Prayer Leaders
Prayer at Rossington St Michael’s
Prayer has always been a valued and established part of life at Rossington St Michael’s CE Primary School. It takes place daily and at regular intervals throughout the school day, forming a natural and meaningful part of our rhythm.
We use a rich variety of prayers, from well-known traditional ones to those created by staff and pupils, reflecting their own faith and understanding. While our staff are deeply committed to the school’s Christian ethos and character, we also deeply value the prayerful contributions of our children.
To support this, we have Prayer Leaders from the older year groups in each Key Stage (Years 2, 4, and 6), who play an active and visible role in nurturing prayer across the school.
The Role of Our Prayer Leaders
Our Prayer Leaders:
- Encourage prayer throughout the school, across all classes and age ranges
- Promote understanding and appreciation of traditional prayers, helping children say them with confidence and reverence
- Write and share their own prayers, inspiring others to see how prayer connects us more deeply to God
- Introduce new and creative ways of praying - whether spoken, written, silent, sung or expressed through movement or art
- Support the presentation of our school prayer during celebrations and assemblies
- Assist staff and the Headteacher during Collective Worship and, at times, lead class or whole-school prayer
- Serve as role models of prayerfulness, showing that prayer brings us closer to God, nourishes our faith and offers both comfort and joy
At Rossington St Michael’s, prayer and prayerfulness are not just encouraged - they thrive. Our Prayer Leaders are ambassadors for this vital part of our school life, ensuring that prayer continues to be a central and life-giving feature of our Christian community.
