House Teams
“So in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.” – Romans 12:5
At Rossington St Michael’s, our House System is an important part of school life, designed to build a strong sense of belonging, teamwork and mutual respect. Every child and adult in school belongs to one of our four Houses, helping to create a ‘family within a family’ and reinforcing our core Christian values in a practical and meaningful way.
From the moment children join our school, they are welcomed into a House that will be theirs for their entire journey at Rossington St Michael’s. Siblings are placed in the same House where possible to strengthen family ties and school identity.
Why Do We Have a House System?
- To build community – connecting children across year groups
- To promote teamwork – learning how to work towards shared goals
- To encourage responsibility – through leadership roles and positive role-modelling
- To celebrate achievement – through house points and events
- To nurture friendship and belonging – across the whole school family
Children earn House Points for excellent behaviour, positive attitudes to learning, acts of kindness, showing our Christian values in action, attendance and academic achievements. These points contribute to weekly, termly and end-of-year celebrations.
Older children also have opportunities to act as House Captains or Vice-Captains, supporting younger members in shared activities and special events.
Our Houses
Each of our four Houses is named after an important biblical figure – individuals who showed courage, wisdom, transformation and leadership. These stories help to inspire and guide our children in their own journeys.
Elijah – The House of Courage and Faith
Biblical reference: 1 Kings 17–19
Elijah was a prophet who showed deep courage and unwavering faith, even in the face of danger. He stood up for what was right and trusted in God’s power. Children in Elijah House are encouraged to be brave, to speak the truth, and to remain faithful through life’s challenges.

A House for Life
Once a child joins their House, they stay in it throughout their time at school, building lasting friendships and shared memories. House competitions, special days and collective worships are held regularly to celebrate House spirit and Christian values in action.
Together, our House System helps us live out our vision of flourishing in faith, love and learning.
